Instructions for Using the Asbestos Project Lookup
Step-by-Step:
1. City/Town and Region. You may indicate the city, town, or military
installation and/or the Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP)
or Division of Occupational Safety (DOS) region (if you know) where the
project(s) you are searching for are or were located.
Find the MassDEP region that corresponds with a specific
community
MassDEP and its regional pull-down menu are selected by
default.
Click on DOS if you wish to search by that agency’s regions.
See the list of DOS regional offices
2. Project Address.
You may type in the full or partial project(street) address for the particular project(s) you are searching for. It is often better to enter partial information (e.g. "lincoln") when searching for a project by street address, since more complete information (e.g. "275B Lincoln Street") might exclude a match with what is entered in the database (e.g. "275 Lincoln St"). You must select a city or town first to enable this search.
>
3. Notifier Name. You may type in the full or partial name of the
contractor, property owner, or other party who may have filed the notification(s)
for the particular project(s) you are searching for.
4. Date Range of Search. By default, search results show all projects involving
asbestos for which MassDEP has received notifications during the previous 30 days. You may also
choose another time frame by entering the earliest and latest dates for which
you want to see results, either by typing them manually (in mm/dd/yyyy format)
or by clicking on the calendar icons to select them. The asbestos
project database displays project start and end dates as they were reported in
notifications received by MassDEP. These dates have not been
independently verified by the agency.
5. Viewing Preferences. Indicate the number of rows you would like to view per
page of results. You may wish to adjust your selection if you plan to print out the
listing.
6. Click on SEARCH.View the results. These will be displayed beneath the search criteria
box in chronological order, with the most recent filing dates displayed first.
You may notice multiple listings for the same project since there are sometimes separate database
entries for the property owner, contractor, or other participants in a project.
7. Sort the Results. To sort alphabetically or sequentially, click on the appropriate
linked column heading. To reverse the order in which results are displayed,
simply click on the column heading again.
You may also highlight the table with your cursor and import the displayed
data into applications such as Microsoft Excel® for additional analysis.
Notes: If you need additional information about any
asbestos removal project(s) listed in the results of your query,
contact the MassDEP Regional Service Center nearest you
for additional information or to make an appointment to
review the file(s).
